Watching Game Of Thrones Spectacular Season 8 Will Leave You In ‘Awe’ Claims HBO Boss

The CEO of HBO, Richard Plepler, got an early look at the final six episodes of Game of Thrones and was left in “awe” at what he saw, just as fans got their first glimpse at real footage from Season 8.

“It’s a spectacle,” Plepler shared. “The guys have done six movies. The reaction I had while watching them was, ‘I’m watching a movie.’”

Plepler added that even though he watched the episodes without the luxury of CGI, he was exceedingly impressed with what David Benioff and DB Weiss were able to pull off.

“They’ve exceeded the bar. I’ve watched them twice without any CGI and I’m in awe,” he stated.”

According to Digital Spy, he also assured fans that they are in for quite the treat when Game of Thrones returns this April.

Plepler’s comments come on the heels of a new teaser trailer that offers a first real look at what’s to come in the final season. The clip features Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) meeting Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) for the first time and welcoming her to Winterfell as the Queen of Westeros.

Speaking of Daenerys, Clarke recently opened up her character’s love for Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and how learning his true lineage would affect her deeply.

Harington echoed Clarke’s sentiments and said that Jon would have a difficult time if he learned that he was actually related to the Mother of Dragons.

The two did not say if Jon will find out about his real parents in the final season, but discovering the truth could definitely impact his new relationship with Daenerys.

Although the new trailer features some exciting footage, it did not reveal too many spoilers about what happens in the final season. Fortunately, producers will likely release more promotional materials as we get closer to the premiere date.

The final season of Game of Thrones will feature six episodes that are reportedly over 90 minutes each, which might be why Plepler felt like he was watching a movie when he screened it.
